Laser Hair Removal

At Skin Works, we use the Cutera CoolGlide system, the best laser permanent hair removal system in the industry. The CoolGlide system can be used on all skin types, including tanned patients.

What areas can be treated?

The CoolGlide system can permanently remove hair from all parts of the body. The most commonly treated areas are: face, legs, arms, underarms, back, chest, and bikini area.

What do CoolGlide treatments feel like?

The CoolGlide apparatus cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. The delivery of a pulse of light causes some patients to experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic on sensitive areas.

How many treatments will I need?

Most areas require 3-6 treatments. However, the number of treatments will vary depending on hair thickness, treatment area, and your hair’s growth cycle. CoolGlide treatments work by disabling the hair follicles that are actively growing at the time of treatment. Because all hairs are not in the active growth phase at the same time, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the follicles in the treatment area.

What happens after the treatment?

After your CoolGlide treatment, the area may appear slightly red and swollen. Three to seven days after your treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. However, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment, and are not regrowth. You should not wax or pluck the hair between treatments. It is ok to shave during treatments.

What are possible side effects?

The most common side effects are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, which may feel similar to a sunburn. This typically lasts for a few hours or less. In rare instances, blistering of the skin may occur. We ensure the procedure is appropriate for you before we administer treatment.
